Atlanta Date Night

We are relishing the opportunity to get a few date nights in before we head off to the Netherlands. (You can read about our Ex-Pat adventure here.) We have found so many fun things to do in Atlanta with the kids, its nice though to do some adult things as well.

Dinner at the Botanical Garden.  I was here with the kids alone for a month before Jeff arrived. My dad volunteered to take both kids one evening so I could join my mom and her friends at the Fresh Plates Series in the Atlanta Botanical Garden. (The garden also offers a more expensive,Well-Seasoned Chef Series featuring only farm-to-table chefs.)  In the Fresh Plates series local chefs cook dinner inspired by what is growing in the garden, right in front of you, while you sip on a glass of wine. Our meal was delicious and the chef was incredibly entertaining. After we were able to wonder through the garden and check out the lights before heading home.

King of Pops.  The first night Jeff was back we decided to go for a walk once the kids were in bed and pick up some King of Pops Popsicles. They happen to sell them at our neighborhood pool, but they are available all over the city. They have so many great flavors it really does feel like the perfect date night treat.

Dinner & a Show. Atlanta has no shortage of great restaurants and theater options.  We caught a Sunday early evening showing of Avenue Q with Horizon theater at Oglethorpe.  We grabbed a slice at Felini's after the show. (What can I say? Its my favorite!)  If your looking for improve check out Whole World or Dad's Garage. The Alliance Theater has several stages showing a variety of plays of different styles. Large scale productions can usually be found at the Fox Theater. Still not finding anything? Check out Theater in Atlanta for a comprehensive list of what is happening around town.

Here are a few other ideas to check out:
- Martini's & Imax at Fernbank on Friday's in the Summer
- Wine Down Fridays at the High
- Wild on the Rocks at Zoo Atlanta
-  Outdoor Movie & Picnic
- Summer Festivals
